Synopsis:

Alex Corrêa

Alex Corrêa was born on August 17th, 1981. As the son of a classical pianist, his first contact with the piano was at the age of 5 but it was at the age thirteen is when his father decided that he should seek the path of music. At seventeen, Alex began his undergraduate studies at Universidade Estadual de Londrina (South of Brazil), which brought him into significant contact with many sound environments, anthropological and philosophical studies, and skills aimed at teaching music. While he was in college, he also worked as a sideman in several pop and jazz bands, playing festivals throughout Brazil.  By the age of 25, Alex moved to São Paulo in Brazil and focused on studying the development of a contemporary language in the context of instrumental music, and as a result he recorded his first album in 2010, entitled “Sintoma” in partnership with Adauto Dias, Nenê and Arismar do Espírito Santo.

Now he is presently living in Europe performing and composing with artists and groups around the Globe, releasing 3 new projects in 2018: Uno (live recorded in Geneva, piano solo), Duo (piano and saxophone with Maurício Salamanca) and Concert for Piano and Universe (Quintet with Seamus Blake, Alex Sipiagin, Felipe Brisola and Rodrigo Digão Braz). In addition, as a sideman Alex has been playing with Raul de Souza Quartet and Quintet, and with Alex Sipiagin quartet.
